Camping Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a campsite?

It’s easy! Just give our Park Office a call and speak to one of our staff. We will be happy to answer any of your questions and to book you in for your stay! We would love to celebrate long-weekends with you, so give us a call early to book these in demand times. Our phone number is 613-256-1020.

Do your sites have electricity and water at each of them?

Not all campsites have electricity and water hook-up available. If you require electricity and water, please call our Store Office to book your stay as these sites tend to be in high demand throughout the season.

Can I bring my own campfire wood in to the park?

We ask that no wood be brought in to the park due to the possibility of introducing foreign insects onto our property. Firewood is available to purchase at the store by the bundle.

Can I have a campfire at my campsite?

Yes, each of the campsites have a fire pit that can be used for campfires. All campfires must be completely extinguished before leaving your site and please do not leave campfires unattended. In the event of a fire ban (initiated by the township during very dry conditions), we will notify all campers. In those instances, no campfires are permitted. On occasion a partial fire ban can be implemented during dry periods, which means that campfires can be used for cooking purposes during certain daytime hours. In all instances park staff will communicate the fire ban status with all campers. We understand that campfires are such a magical part of camping. We do our best to ensure that everyone can get to have that experience while camping, while ensuring the safety of everyone in the park and the surrounding forests. Our 350 acre park is a campground, maple syrup operation, and a managed woodlot. We take the safety of our forests and everyone within the park very seriously.

Is there a quiet time?

Quiet time in the park is 11pm. In order to respect everyone in the park, we ask that music be kept low after this time. Songs around the campfire are always welcome!

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs must be kept on leash at all times when walking throughout the park. We ask that no dogs be brought to the beach. Instead, when it is not busy, dogs are welcome to go for a swim at the boat launch. Picking up after your pet helps to keep the park clean for everyone.

Do you rent boats, kayaks or canoes?

Unfortunately at this time we do not rent boats, kayaks or canoes. We do have a boat launch and docking facilities located in the park though, where you are welcome to launch your own boat.

Is smoking or vaping allowed in the park?

Yes, but we ask that all cigarette butts be disposed of properly. Lit cigarettes are a fire hazard and are not to be discarded on the ground in the park. We also ask that everyone respects common areas, including the beach, play park and boat launching facilities.

Is there cell phone coverage in the park?

Yes, we are lucky enough to have cell phone coverage in most of the areas of the park. Of course this can vary depending on cell phone provider.

Can I bring fireworks in to the park?

No, fireworks are not permitted in the park. However, each year we put on a fireworks show to celebrate Canada Day. Join us on the big hill behind the sugar camp to celebrate! Each year we end our celebration with a group rendition of O Canada!

What do I do with my garbage?

We ask that you bring your garbage up to the dumpster and recycling bins located near the main office at the entrance to the park. We strive to recycle all materials possible, so we ask that you sort your recyclables in to the designated bins. Do not worry – we have made it easy for everyone! There is a bin for each material type and they are all well labeled. All other household garbage can be placed in the dumpster. Please note that we only accept household garbage.

Remember that the park is also home to wildlife. We are lucky and have not had any troubles with black bears in our park, but managing your garbage helps to keep wildlife away in the forests where they are happiest. Garbage can be disposed of nightly and we recommend you keep your garbage and food in your vehicle overnight, not in your tent with you.

What should I bring with me camping?

This depends on what you prefer to do on your vacation! Whether it’s swimming at our sand beach, watching your children play on the play structure, hike on our nature trails, launch your boat at our boat launch, or just relax by the waters’ edge. There is so much to do at the park! Some ideas of essentials to bring are:

  • Tent, sleeping bags, air mattress
  • Camp stove and utensils for cooking
  • Water jug (a water station is available to fill your jugs up)
  • Tarp and rope in case it rains
  • Sunscreen, bug spray, flashlights, toilet paper
  • Life jackets
